Belle went face-to-face with Frank Thomas in the final series of the year as the White Sox visited Cleveland with the two sluggers tied for the RBI lead at 126 apiece. Belle held off the “Big Hurt” with three RBI over the weekend to win the first RBI title for an Indians player since Joe Carter in 1986. Belle’s 129 RBI were also the most by an Indian since Al Rosen had 145 in 1953. One of baseball’s most reliable run producers, Belle has led the Tribe in runs batted in each of his three full seasons and has now topped the 100-RBI plateau two consecutive seasons.
