The 1997 Ultra Platinum Medallion #P411 was issued in Fleer Ultra Series II, updating Albert Belle’s team to the Chicago White Sox after his landmark free-agent signing.
Like its Series I counterpart (#P46, in a Cleveland uniform), this card is limited to just 200 copies and features Fleer’s stunning foil finish over a rare, stoic dugout shot.
Graded CSG 8, this is currently the only copy in the CSG population report. The only PSA-graded example? A lone PSA 5—also in my collection. That makes this version, for all practical purposes, a one-of-one in the world of publicly graded slabs.
This image of Belle—crouched, focused, bat in hand—contrasts sharply with the violent swing on his Cleveland Medallion. Together, they form a rare dual-parallel narrative of a player mid-transition: leaving Cleveland, breaking records, and becoming MLB’s first $10 million man in Chicago.
Foil-heavy, low-pop, and printed during the final years of Belle’s prime, this is one of the most overlooked cards of his White Sox era—and one of the most quietly important parallels in the Belle market.
